Privacy Policy

Stumped ("stumped.games") is a free, browser-based collection of daily sports games. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. It covers stumped.games (including the NFL games at stumped.games/nfl) and our league sites (such as wnba.stumped.games).

Information We Collect

We do not require account creation or login. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily contact us.

Local storage. Your game progress, streak data, and completed-game history are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Analytics. Analytics differ by site, so here is what each one runs.

• On the main stumped.games hub pages, we do not load an analytics service. Other Stumped services, including stumped.games/nfl and wnba.stumped.games, use Google Analytics and may set analytics cookies on the stumped.games domain.
• On stumped.games/nfl and wnba.stumped.games, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the games are used, such as page views, general device and region information, and how far a player gets in a game. We do not send the answers you type, and we do not collect information that identifies you personally. It runs with Google Consent Mode: for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage stay off — no analytics cookies are set. On wnba.stumped.games you can turn analytics on by agreeing through the consent banner shown there. On stumped.games/nfl there is no banner and storage simply stays off in those regions, so no analytics cookie is ever set for those visitors. You can also opt out anywhere with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Across all our sites, our hosting provider keeps standard server request logs, such as IP address and the page requested, for security and reliability; these logs are not used to build a profile of you.

Advertising

This site does not currently display ads. If we begin showing them, they would be served by third-party advertising networks, and third-party vendors, including Google, would use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's advertising cookies, such as the DoubleClick DART cookie, would let it and its partners serve ads based on those visits. We will update this policy before any of that begins.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of personalized advertising from third-party vendors generally at aboutads.info/choices or NAI opt-out.

Cookies

On stumped.games/nfl and wnba.stumped.games we use cookies for Google Analytics (subject to the consent banner described under Analytics; in the regions listed there, no analytics cookie is set unless you agree). The hub pages themselves set no analytics cookies, though a cookie set by one of those services is scoped to the stumped.games domain and so travels with hub requests too. We do not currently set advertising cookies; if we begin displaying ads, third-party advertising cookies would be set as described under Advertising. We also set one functional cookie, scoped to our own domain (.stumped.games), that syncs your daily-game results between our sites. For example, a board you play on stumped.games then shows as completed on wnba.stumped.games. Like all cookies it is sent with requests to our domain, but it holds only your recent game results, carries no personal information, and is not used for login, tracking, or profiling.

Any advertising and analytics cookies described above are set and controlled by those third-party vendors (Google and its advertising partners), not by us. We do not control these cookies and cannot read the data they collect; refer to each vendor's own privacy policy and use the opt-out links above to manage them.

Your Privacy Choices (U.S. Residents)

We do not sell your personal information for money. If we display personalized ads in the future, then under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the use of advertising cookies to serve or measure them can be considered "selling" or "sharing" personal information, and you would be able to opt out of that personalized advertising using the Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info/choices links above. Where required, Google offers Restricted Data Processing to limit how it uses this data.

Because we do not require an account and do not collect your name, email, or other identifying information, we hold no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. Any advertising or analytics data is held by those third-party vendors under their own policies. To ask a question about your choices, contact us at the address below.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Data Retention

We do not store personal data on our servers. Local storage data persists in your browser until you clear it. Advertising and analytics data, where those services run, is retained by the third-party vendors (such as Google) under their own retention policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
